The Vision

Who is Hands of Restoration Outreach?

An Introduction

Hands of Restoration Outreach in an organization based in Jinja, Uganda that was founded by Sara and Augustine Ingolan in the fall of 2022. The founding vision was to become a helping hand for the local communities and to reach the most vulnerable people groups.

What do we plan to accomplish?

We have several areas of ministry that we target in particular and here is a closer look into the vision of each and what we hope to achieve:

  • Street Connected Children
The heart of HRO is, of course, found in the streets among the disadvantaged youths who have by some misfortune found themselves living homeless and faced with all matters of temptation and corruption.

We intend to traverse the streets of Uganda and take in any young individuals willing to either return home to whatever their family situation may be or come under the umbrella of HRO.

If they are to return home, they will be placed in the local school at whatever grade best suits their current education level. They will be provided with basic necessities such as clothing, shoes, scholastic materials, toiletries, and so forth.

If the funding/supporters are readily available, the children will also have the option of attending boarding school.

We do not only want to think about the education of these young lives, but also their health and well-being. Many of these children leave their family homes and opt for street life due to lack of food and income to the home. They simply can't afford to feed everyone. So we would like to invest in a home garden/small animal project for each home in need. It will be the family (but primarily the child's) responsibility to tend and maintain until it can either be harvested for nourishment or sold for income.

Upon completion of their primary education, they will advance to a skill course/trade school where they will learn resourcefulness and sustainable skills that can, in turn, be used for income. And in much the same way as our other areas, HRO will put forth an initial investment for their future prospects. Whether that be a trade business of their own or further education.

  • Prison Ministry

We have access to some of the local prisons surrounding Jinja.

They allow individuals or groups of people into the prisons at certain times to preach and/or encourage the inmates.

We want to take advantage of the allowance they have given us and bring it one step further by creating workshops whereby we will have one on one lessons with the men and women who are willing to learn various skills such as the making of reusable hygiene products and diapers, shoes, among other things.

The vision is that with these skills practiced and developed, HRO will take the individuals by the hand as they are released and develop a sustainable business that they can live off of.

We are developing a business course that each individual would be put through upon release.

At the completion of the course, they will be given the opportunity to take over their own business which HRO has established.

We will provide the initial equipment and supplies as an investment in their future endeavors.

Freshly equipped with not only the resources but also the knowledge of how to run and maintain a functional business, these people can bring themselves up from their lowest places to a place of sustainability and prosperity.

  • Single/Teenage Mothers

Along the same lines of the inmates, we would open workshops directed specifically towards teenage and single mothers who have little to no resources for sustenance.

These workshops would, in the same way, teach business management, marketing, and the creation of products to sell.

These products would follow along similar lines of the reusable hygiene products and diapers, but might also venture into areas like jewelry and clothing.

And again, with the completion of all the workshops, the individuals will be granted a place of business with their initial equipment and supplies necessary and it will be their responsibility to maintain and grow to the point of consistent and sustainable income.

Where are we now?

We are still in the vary early stages of the mission. We have a strong team of individuals in Uganda who are putting their voluntary time into bringing this vision to life.

We currently sponsor a few children who have returned to school. And there are regular Street Outreaches.

We are in a bit of a financial stand-still at the moment, as the funds are not there to expand and further the mission yet. But we are confident in the hope that, in God's perfect timing, all that we have set out to do will come to pass.
